Adaptogens 101
The guide to functional drinks
The simple, jargon-free guide to functional drinks.
Functional, not just non-alcoholic
A non-alcoholic drink simply removes the alcohol. A functional drink goes further by including ingredients like adaptogens, nootropics or plant extracts, carefully selected to accompany different moments of the day: supporting focus, bringing a sense of calm, sustaining energy or simply offering a new way to enjoy a good drink.
At Nouvelle Soif, we select products that combine pleasure, quality and carefully chosen ingredients.
What is an adaptogen?
Adaptogens are plants and mushrooms that have been used for centuries in different traditions around the world. Today, they are found in many modern drinks to accompany an active, balanced lifestyle.
Their goal is not to transform your day, but to offer a different experience through recognized, well-studied ingredients.

Frequently asked questions
Do they taste like mushrooms?
Not at all.
Our drinks are selected for their taste first. If they don't pass our tasting test, they simply don't make it into the catalogue.
Is it safe?
We select products from recognized manufacturers that meet applicable regulatory requirements.
As with any product containing active ingredients, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a health condition, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before consuming.
How quickly do you feel the effects?
It depends on the ingredients.
Some drinks containing L-theanine or caffeine can be felt quickly, while other ingredients are generally consumed as part of regular use. Each product page lists the main ingredients and the recommended time to enjoy it.
Do all the drinks contain caffeine?
No.
Some contain none, while others use natural sources like green tea, guayusa or coffee. Caffeine content is always shown on the product page when relevant.
Can I drive after drinking them?
Although all drinks offered by Nouvelle Soif are non-alcoholic (0.0%), some contain functional ingredients that require following the manufacturer's recommendations.
For example, the botanical spirits Sentia GABA Gold, Red and Black are botanical dietary supplements. It is recommended not to exceed 100 ml (about 3.4 oz) per 24-hour period. They are not recommended for people under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or people taking certain medications or with certain medical conditions without the advice of a healthcare professional. People with high blood pressure should also avoid excessive consumption due to the presence of liquorice.
